"We wanted to thank Merrick for developing the Whole Earth Farms line of dog food. Initially, the things that drew us to the food were the multiple meat protein sources, lack of flaxseed, and proposed price point. We see new foods weekly and it seems that these foods are all single meat protein sourced foods, making them like many other products on the shelf. In the past couple of years we have seen dogs that are allergic to flaxseed, yet every dog food on the market contains flaxseed. I suspect that this number will continue to increase as flaxseed is "over used". Lastly, when we were told what the price point of Whole Earth Farms would be, we couldn't believe it. At a time when the economy is unstable and the industry push is grain free diets retailing around the $50 a bag mark, I feel that we, the retailer, are going to push a segment of our customers back to grocery store foods.
Our customers know that pet specialty retailers offer higher quality diets but times are tough and people have to make choices. Whole Earth Farms fills that gap between the $40 bag of food and the $30 bag of grocery store "national brand" food.
The palatability of the Whole Earth Farms has been great! One of our local rescue organizations tests products that we consider selling in the stores. They gave Whole Earth Farms a glowing review.
